National Lorry Week 2020 is coming

#NationalLorryWeek is just around the corner and this year it’s going to be bigger and better than ever before. Now in its sixth year, the week takes place on 16th to 22nd November, but we’re launching our campaign much earlier, as we look to celebrate the logistics industry and the vital role it plays in our everyday lives.

We’re building on the success of our #HGVHeroes campaign, which saw the nation join us in showing our appreciation for the sheer hard work and resilience that the sector has shown recently to keep our country going through the most difficult of times.

This year, #NLW will focus on the career opportunities that are available in the logistics sector. It will put the spotlight on the huge amount and variety of roles that the sector offers, celebrate all the industry’s hard work and look at businesses and individuals who are adopting innovative technologies and sustainability concepts.

The logistics industry is the UK’s fifth largest employer with one in twelve people employed within the sector. However, we know there is more to do in order to attract young talent into the industry. National Lorry Week will help to do this by showcasing the opportunities available.

Over the next 13 weeks, we’re asking our members and wider network of professionals to get involved in supporting this important campaign. Our National Lorry Week social media pack is available to download – all you need to do is scroll to the bottom of the website homepage. This pack contains everything you’ll need to get involved with the campaign online.

Here on the National Lorry Week website you will find feature stories from our members about their journey into the industry, what their daily roles involve, how their businesses have evolved and will highlight the various careers that are available within the industry.

As part of National Lorry Week we’ll be engaging with schools and colleges to start to build on filling the skills gap, encouraging young people and those who may be considering a new challenge to think about joining the next generation of drivers, managers and technicians and the many other roles available in the logistics industry.

There will be an opportunity to join several webinar discussions on key elements of the logistics sector and a chance to provide information about your own success stories and examples of best practice.

National Lorry Week is the perfect opportunity to champion logistics as a vastly innovative, inclusive and sustainable industry, full of amazing opportunities.
