National Lorry Week Launch Event Announced

Event set to take place at RHA’s impressive new HQ

Held annually by the Road Haulage Association (RHA), highly anticipated National Lorry Week is preparing to launch again for its ninth year running.

The event kicks off with a special invite-only launch event held at the RHA’s brand new HQ in Peterborough on 2 October with special guest Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Cambridge, John Bridge OBE DL, who was national Chairman of the RHA from 1998 – 2001.

National Lorry Week is an exclusive gathering that brings together the industry and the public with industry talent, policy drivers, MPs, members, logistics workers and innovators to celebrate, educate and come together to drive change and evolve positively.

The launch event kick off on 2 October will take place at the RHA’s new, bigger brand-new premises, which the business moved into this year, following significant expansion. It will be an exclusive, industry and media only event and briefing.

Richard Smith, MD at the RHA said: ‘It’s incredible to look back on the events of the last nine years. What a fantastic industry – we’ve been through thick and thin, the toughest times for many in living memory, yet our wonderful industry still drives forward incredible innovation, support and development. I am proud to be in this position – to support our members and celebrate with them.’

Highlights at the launch event include a fully wrapped and branded National Lorry Week DAF XG+ truck and the RHA’s new driver training simulator with industry-leading technology. The simulator will be manned by RHA Training and available for media and other attendees to trail.

Confirmed guests include PCC Road Safety Officer, Cambs Police Casualty Reduction Officer as well as sponsors from DAF, SNAP Parking and Driver Hire.

The full campaign of National Lorry Week events spanning across October promises to raise awareness of, and celebrate, the incredible work that the UK haulage industry does for the country – every single day of the year.

The industry will use the events during Lorry Week and the month of October to also drive awareness of the career opportunities within the logistics industry to raise awareness among young people in particular.

As part of the events, a national tour of the RHA’s branded, fully wrapped lorry, will be included – with the public and industry invited to join at any location they can. The lorry will tour towns across the UK, visiting MPs and schools to educate and inform all about the industry. A full schedule of the tour can be found here.

Richard continues: ‘During the launch event we will provide group and individual briefings to media about the schedule of events to celebrate our industry – we appreciate any support that can be given to ensure we celebrate our industry as loudly as possible.’
